How Trade Events and Conferences Keep Us Up to Speed With The Latest in Kids' Eye Care

15th Sep 2023

At Kids Eye Gear, we understand that when it comes to your child's vision and eye health, nothing but the very best will do. Having personally experienced the challenges of caring for our own son's eye health, we're 100% committed to providing the best possible solutions for every child. This influences every aspect of our practice and drives us to stay informed and up-to-date with the latest findings and innovations in children's eye care. By continuously growing our knowledge, we can bring you relevant information, support and quality kids eye care products.

Aside from (lots of!) reading, staying up-to-date means regularly taking Kids Eye Gear on the road to attend industry-specific trade events and conferences.

These gatherings of vision professionals provide us with a great opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas with leading experts in our field. But it's not just about absorbing new information; it's also about having a voice in the larger conversation and helping to shape the future of children's eye care.

By immersing ourselves in these professional circles, we're able to stay at the forefront of innovative practices, and we get to see first-hand the newest advancements in technology, treatment methods, eyewear designs, and much more.

Over the years, we've attended countless conferences, workshops and trade events, and here are a few deserving special mention.

The Orthoptics Australia Annual Conference

The Orthoptics Australia Annual Conference is an event we can't wait to mark on our calendar each year. Held over a few days, it's a melting pot of ideas, innovations, and best practices in orthoptics.

Last year's conference, the 78th, was a treasure trove of knowledge. We came back with fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to serve our clients better.

This year, the 79th Orthoptics Australia Annual Conference is set to take place at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre from 21 - 23 October. With a theme close to our heart, "Equitable eye care for all", it promises to be another amazing experience. We're excited to head over to the West and learn about the most recent advances in orthoptic practice alongside fellow professionals.

The International Congress of Behavioural Optometry (ICBO)

The International Congress of Behavioural Optometry (ICBO) has been another significant event for eye health professionals, and a few years ago, we had the privilege of attending ICBO in Sydney. We came away with a global perspective on behavioural optometry, enhancing our understanding and approach towards kids' eye care. Since then, we have provided information for delegates at each Australian College of Behavioural Optometry (ACBO) events.

Other ways we've made our mark

Over the years, Kids Eye Gear has made our presence felt in the optical industry. Attending events like O=MEGA 2019, NACBO 2018, SILMO Sydney, and the Squint Club have been instrumental in our growth and learning, and our publication of the annual Little Aussie Eyes Report is just one way we've given back to share our knowledge and insights with the larger eye care community.

These events are more than just professional development for us – it's how we can ensure the families who trust us with their children's vision care are always receiving the most effective, up-to-date information and products. It's about guaranteeing that every eye patch we sell is underpinned by the most current knowledge and research in the field. And it's about knowing wholeheartedly we're making a difference for our customers and their children.

We're looking forward to more learning and sharing so we can continue to promote the importance of kids' eye health and enhance the experience of families. And if you're attending the 79th Orthoptics Australia Annual Conference in Perth next month, come say hi; we'd love to meet you!
